1. Purpose of This Statement
At De Vere Brilliance Limited (Trading as De Vere Brilliance), we are committed to ensuring that all jewellery and related products sold by us are safe, compliant with UK and international product safety regulations, and free from restricted or harmful substances.
2. Legal Compliance
Our products comply with all relevant laws and regulations, including but not limited to:
UK REACH Regulations (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation & Restriction of Chemicals).
The General Product Safety Regulations 2005 (GPSR).
The Hallmarking Act 1973 (for precious metals).
Consumer Protection Act 1987.
Applicable international laws for markets we export to.
3. Restricted Substances
3.1 Nickel – All jewellery complies with EU/UK REACH restrictions on nickel release (maximum 0.5µg/cm²/week for items in direct and prolonged contact with skin, and 0.2µg/cm²/week for piercings).
3.2 Lead – Our products contain no more than 0.05% lead by weight of the article, in compliance with REACH.
3.3 Cadmium – Our products contain no more than 0.01% cadmium by weight, in compliance with REACH.
3.4 Other chemicals – We monitor emerging restrictions and ensure compliance with any new substance bans or restrictions.
4. Testing & Quality Assurance
4.1 All precious metal alloys and components are sourced from verified suppliers and tested to ensure compliance with safety standards.
4.2 Products are periodically tested by independent laboratories for nickel release, lead, cadmium, and other restricted substances.
4.3 We maintain certification records for regulatory audits.
5. Child Safety
5.1 We do not market jewellery specifically for children under 12.
5.2 Where items may be purchased for older children or teenagers, they are tested for compliance with toy and child safety standards regarding small parts, choking hazards, and sharp points.
5.3 Customers are advised that jewellery should not be given to young children without supervision.
6. Product Design & Manufacturing Safety
6.1 All products are designed with durability, comfort, and safety in mind.
6.2 Clasps, chains, and fastenings are tested for strength and reliability.
6.3 Sharp edges, burrs, or unfinished surfaces are eliminated during quality control.
7. Packaging & Labelling
7.1 All jewellery is packaged securely to prevent damage in transit.
7.2 Packaging materials comply with UK packaging waste and safety legislation.
7.3 Care instructions and hallmarking details are provided with each item.
8. Recall & Corrective Action
8.1 In the unlikely event that a product safety issue is identified post-sale, we will:
Immediately notify customers and Trading Standards.
Withdraw the product from sale.
Offer repair, replacement, or refund as appropriate.
8.2 We maintain an internal Product Recall Procedure to ensure swift corrective action.
9. Supply Chain Responsibility
9.1 We only work with suppliers who comply with UK REACH, hallmarking, and ethical sourcing requirements.
9.2 Suppliers are required to sign our Supplier Code of Conduct and provide evidence of compliance testing.
9.3 We conduct periodic audits and retain right of inspection.
